Some Good Reads:
October might just be my favorite month—it’s when fall really kicks in and everything feels a bit cozier. Plus, with Halloween around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get into some mysteries, thrillers, or classic horror books that capture that fun, spooky vibe.
Honestly, what sounds better than a cozy fall night with a hot tea, some ambience in the background, a soft blanket, and a suspenseful book? 📚🕯️
To help you get into the autumn spirit, I put together a list of 11 spooky (or cozy) books to dive into this month. Check it out here.

Some classics from the list:
The Bloody Chamber & Other Stories by Angela Carter: In this collection of short stories, Angela Carter spins classic fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast and Little Red Riding Hood into dark, sensual stories filled with blood, lust, and horror. Highly recommend!
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury: One chilly October, a traveling carnival visits a small town, bringing sinister mysteries that are witnessed by two teenage boys. The carnival’s terrifying spectacles include a time-turning carousel and the Dust Witch with eyes sewn shut. This book is perfect for fans of creepy, nostalgic tales. But as Bradbury warns, “Beware of the autumn people…”
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: It doesn’t get more Halloween than this classic Gothic thriller. Shelley (who began writing this at just 18) tells the story of scientist Victor Frankenstein and his attempted creation of a human from stolen body parts. The creature, rejected by his creator and isolated in loneliness acts out in bloody revenge. This book explores the consequences of unchecked ambition and the moral questions surrounding humanity and creation.
“Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”
Founders Doing Good:
If you’re like me, you’ll need a sweet snack to accompany your reading. 😋 These date bites from Realsy are the perfect treat—made with clean, wholesome ingredients.

Founded by college friends Austin and Sophia, Realsy is on a mission to make nutritious food accessible and convenient.
Their date bites are made with minimal ingredients and come in portable packaging, so they’re easy to enjoy anywhere, whether you’re curled up with a book or on the go.
(The chocolate peanut butter dates are my favorite!) 🍫
Intentional Habit:

What: Unplug from your devices and screens for a set time each day. 🧠
Why: Constant screen time, especially doom scrolling leads to mental fatigue and anxiety. By taking intentional breaks from screens, you give your brain a chance to rest and recharge. It also creates space for more enriching activities like reading, journaling, crafting, or spending time outdoors. 🌿
How: Start with 30 minutes to an hour each day where you intentionally step away from screens. You can schedule this before bed or whatever works for your day. To avoid the pull of mindless screen time, have a list of simple, fun activities that can give you a boost of happiness or calm without screens. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Screen breaks can reduce stress and improve sleep, focus, and well-being.
